New to St Paul’s?

We appreciate that going to church for the first time, or even coming to a new church, can be a daunting experience.  All of us were new at some point, and we want to reassure you that you are welcome.

We are a family.  We come in all shapes and sizes.  We welcome you wherever you’re from and whoever you are.  Our foundations are not in the stone of our beautiful building, but in our identity as children of our Heavenly Father.  This is the message we carry, and as followers of Christ we want to reflect his love to all who we meet.

So if you’re seeking what faith might look life for you, doubting that faith is an option, struggling to see how Jesus can help, or already in a relationship with Christ, you are welcome just as you are.

It may help to look at the answers to some frequently asked questions below:

Church is simply a community of people gathering together to do a few things:

The main reason we gather is to worship God:  We do this in a number of ways, through song, prayer and reflection.  Everyone who comes connects with God in different ways, so we allow space for this to happen.

To learn about following Jesus through practical teaching from Scripture, always asking the questions; what’s God saying, and what should we do about it?

Sometimes we share communion:  We share in the bread and wine to remember Jesus’ death on the 1st Sunday of each month, as well as on special festivals.  We invite all who profess Christ as Savior, desire peace with their neighbor, and who opens themselves to the grace of God to join us in this act of remembrance.

We pray together asking God’s Spirit to bring healing and wholeness in to personal, corporate, and global situations.

When you first arrive you will be greeted by a member of the welcome team, who will give you everything you need for the service, and will be able to answer any questions you may have.

You can sit anywhere you like, however, we do ask that you give room for those with special needs if asked.

We take up tithes and offerings as part of our worship service where people give money in support of the work of the church.  If you are visiting please don’t feel like you have to give.

Our pastor will usually be at the door to say goodbye as you leave.  Do take time to introduce yourself.  If you have had a chance to complete a connect card then this would be a good time to pass it on to someone.

Children are always welcome.  In each of our services there is a special time for the children to come to the front and hear a children’s sermon, and on the 1st Sunday of each month we have Children’s Church where the children go downstairs for part of the service to look at the same passage of Scripture as the adults, through play, craft and story time.  If you would like to know more about our Children’s Ministry click here

Please do not feel like you need to dress up for church and bring out the ‘Sunday best’.  God welcomes you as you are, and so do we – there is no dress code!
